i've been really impressed in recent years with the way that the Golden Melody Awards have adapted, rewarding more music that leans away from the more "traditional" sound of mandopop, and nominating more R&B and if Soft Lipa's win is any indication, more hip-hop in the future—i think this year's balance of things, you've got Wanfang making an art-pop album, Hebe making a more standard-leaning Mandopop album, Shi Shi doing R&B, etc. has been really nice
that said, i don't tend to go far too much mandopop that falls into the kind of late 2000s/early 2010s sound, but I did enjoy Hebe Tien's album from last year! i'm not too into Wu Qingfeng's solo music, but Sodagreen is great, and their new album looks like it's shaping up to be really good, so we'll see
also did not know about Lala Hsu having a new album, so that's great news!! will be exciting for sure
